Rain &Dust Chamber/Water and dust ingress protection testing

IP testing to IEC 60529 ingress protection is used to:

  • determine equipment and enclosures’ ability to resist the ingress of foreign matter (solid and liquid)

  • ensure that human exposure to dangerous parts is prevented

There are different types of rain test chamber available suitable for different IP requirements, and details are listed as follows.

Rain & Dust Test Chamber Category

IPX1 & IPX2 : Rain test chamber suitable for IPX1 & IPX2 tests will comply with the typical test standards: DIN40050, GB/T 2423.38, GB/T 2424.23, GB4208, IEC60529, DNS7138, ISO20653, GB/T10485, GB/T4942 etc.

IPX3, IPX4 & IPX4K: Rain test chamber suitable for IPX3, IPX4 & IPX4K tests will comply with the typical test standards: DIN40050, GB/T 2423.38, GB/T 2424.23, GB4208, IEC60529, DNS7138, ISO20653, GB/T10485, GB/T4942 etc.

IPX5, IPX6 & IPX6K: Rain test chamber suitable for IPX5, IPX6 & IPX6K tests will just need a pressure controlled water spray system, with nozzles and a bath room as a test area. The test rig will comply with the typical test standards: DIN40050, GB/T 2423.38, GB/T 2424.23, GB4208, IEC60529, DNS7138, ISO20653, GB/T10485, GB/T4942 etc.

IPX7 & IPX8: Rain test chamber suitable for IPX7 & IPX8 tests will use a water tank to manage this test; Typical test standard: DIN40050, GB/T 2423.38, GB/T 2424.23, GB4208, IEC60529, DNS7138, ISO20653, GB/T10485, GB/T4942 etc. IPX7, 1m distance from the water upper surface to the bottom of the test specimen; IPX8, deep water tank.

IPX9K: Rain test chamber suitable for IPX9K test will comply with the typical test standard: DIN40050, ISO20653 etc. Water temperature: +80 ℃, Water pressure: 80bar~100bar, Water flux: 14~16L/min

Japan R1, R2, S1, S2: Rain test chamber suitable for Japanstandards R1, R2, S1, S2 rain tests will comply with the typical test standards: JIS D 0203

Dust Test IP5X, IP6X: Dust test chamber suitable for dust ingress protection IP5X & IP6X will comply with the typical test standards: DIN40050, GB/T 2424.23, GB4208, IEC60529, DNS7138, ISO20653,GB/T10485, GB/T4942 etc.
